Here is a simple pair of number awards to Junior Sergeant Aleksej Dmitrievich Sokolov, the Tailor to the General Staff of the Southern Group Of Forces. With all the interest in Soviet Generals' Victory Parade Uniforms I really thought people would be all over this. I'm sure we've all seen his tailoring "on parade" at some point.

I too like the greatcoats. I wore one until rather recently when I started using operational thermals (softees) but I'll go back to the greatcoat when they're spent (and after I update the insignia). I have tailored a couple of greatcoats myself in the past so I know just how tedious it is - just turning up the skirt is metres of sewing. I suppose he may have been assisted by a sewing machine.
