The two other variations differ only in the ribbon colours, the medal itself has the final design.

I have had no respose as of today to use the images of the prototype ribbons so they might have to be removed, however the link will remain as reference.
As you can see the ribbons are blue and red with a gold interlace edge design. Maybe this was for a two class medal or to denote the branch of service, the reason is not 100% clear.
