Fake Medals "For Bravery"
#21
Alfred Wrote:I think this Bravery medal is also bad. Old serial number was removed and a new one stamped in to fit with the award book.
The serial number is 2 mm high, like a duplicate but the letters look wrong.

Any oppinions?

best regards and thanks
Andreas

Andreas,

I'm going to keep my nose out of the early bravery medals themselves until I brush up on details history, but that document is the kind that makes me nervous. It is either completely a genuine (mess), or somebody didn't do such a great job in "washing" and "drying" the inks.

Norm, don't feel too bad - I was so focused on the metal itself and all of that "funky cold patina" that I didn't even notice the serial number.:o

Phillip,

the document of my bravery medal is originial and not messed up (post329 and 330). What I meant was, that the serial number on the bravery medal itself was removed and a new serial number on the bravery medal was stamped to fit with the entries of the award book.

best regards Andreas

It is quite a nice word that rolls off the tongue well.:thumbsup

Phillip

It would be even more rolling tongues off to say it in italian: vicissitudini.
(Put the accent on the second "i" and on the "u").

Hello friends,

Great forum. Long time lurker/first time poster. :) What do you think about this one, in my collection? I suspect the suspension is fake--would love to hear from the experts!

Thanks Desantik--I thought as much. :) Also there's red enamel "dripping down" in the CCCP on the medal, likely added later. Could've been done by the veteran too, who knows.
