Medal for Distinguished Labor awarded to Mariya Tikhonovna Bolshakova by Ukaz of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of USSR on 16 July 1980.

Based on the date of the decree, this medal was awarded as part of a group of close to 7000 awards (from which 5159 for Valiant Labor) ranging from Hero of Socialist Labor, Order of Lenin, Order of October Revolution, Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Order of Friendship, Order of the Badge of Honor, Order of Labor Glory II and III classes, and medals for Valiant labor and Distinguished labor. All those awards were given in recognition for the dedicated and high quality labor of workers, managers, and officials in the success of the construction and reconstruction of the Olympic venues in the city of Moscow.

Again, I got the information from the summary published in the Pravda and the full decree is available in the "Official Gazette of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet of USSR".

What is interesting with this documented medal, other than the awarding box, is the invitation card that was given to the recipient to attend the award ceremony at the Kremlin on August 1, 1980.

Nice find! :thumbsup I also just picked up a Distinguished Labor medal awarded in connection with the 1980 Olympics, but for security rather than construction. I'll post eventually.

How did you access the gazette? Is it online anywhere?

Alex, I didn't get the Gazette, but the Pravda issue of July 17, 1980 which included the summary of the Ukaz. The full Ukaz was published in the Official Gazette of the Presidium Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

I have access to all Pravda issues from the very beginning in 1912 through a research center.

Here is the actual Ukaz summary from the Pravda issue of 17 July 1980.
