Honoured Title "Mother-Heroine".

[Lapa]

CtahhR,

IMHO, it fits since the Karakalpak ASSR is located somewhere near Uzbekistan, a place where large families are the norm.

Gents,

A very nice package.

How common are the replacement stars on these?

Missing this award to complete the set, if the replacement stars were common I suppose I'd settle for one for the time being.

Gents,

With gold prices approaching $1,900.00/ounce, it's not to be unexpected.

Yes, very sad. It used to be possible (may still be) to get pieces just like this in New Delhi by the kilo (literally).

I've seen one or two on the e-channel of late and I assumed the same; scavenged for the gold content.

I think the practice of removing the gold was still in vogue long time ago.
 too bad

Very, very sad. Such orders are pieces of history. But also sad that people who own those orders are so poor that they have to sell their own or their (grand)mothers awards.

I'm a new member and would appreciate some feedback on this medal...maybe a motherhood heroine??

[CtahhR]

Welcome to the show.

This is an Order "Mother-Heroine" which has had the gold harvested and replaced with what looks to be an epaulette star rank insignia. A little bit "different" but yet another Order that has been "weighed in" now the price of gold is more than what people want to pay for the award.
