Impressive job everyone!

Members,

I just wanted to take a moment and say how impressed I am with the content I've been seeing on the forum lately. Great contributions from all the members and great job from the moderators in keeping the forum on-topic. Also, the level of friendly attention paid to new collectors when they post questions is excellent. No one could ask for a better quality forum.

When I venture out onto similar forums I will frequently see content so diluted from the main subject it's to much work to separate the "wheat" from the "chaff" and I don't bother going back. Here, I will simply click on "New Posts" (if there are members who haven't tried this, try it..it is an excellent way to get all the "New Posts") and everything that's presented is interesting and relevant.

Keep up the great work, and we will only get better and better!

Couldn't have said it any better. This forum is the reason why I collect Soviet awards.

Art

Art, I think everybody here is serious into collecting (be a small or big collector) and we all understand that it's in the interest of each of us and to the soviet collecting world to be kind with new collectors and new visitors of the forum. The bigger is the collecting community, the more we can learn and the more pleasure we have to discuss together. This is without considering the other good aspect that is that the market value of our collections is consistently growing!

I know, I should not care about the value in $ of my collection because I never sold a single piece and I don't intend to sold any soon (except maybe some "double" items of low value), but it's always interesting to see that awards we bought even just a year ago now sell for much more. I prefer to see this than the opposite!

A Manu, Bienvenue sur le Forum et Bonne Fete de la St-Jean Baptiste mon cher compatriote Quebecois!

I'd like to echo Art's sentiments about other forums, and say that in this one we have more "business" as opposed to other talk than the other forums.

And to all the Quebeqois here on the forum a great St-Jean Baptiste day also from Ontario!

Since no one thought mentioning the forum's moderators was needed, I will say it plain and simple - Without the moderators there is NO forum.

So, Alexei, Doug D, Dave, Desantnik, Huligan RS , otlichnik - Thanks for the endless efforts, for a job well done and - almost always - under appreciated.

Hi Manu and Soviet (Bryan),

This poll is a great idea (that I also got in the past...) but not an easy one. And that's why I did not launch and experience it...

First : what to ask ? Present nationality ? Or country of origin ? I'm here thinking about people who have emigrated...
Present location ? (where do you live ?); knowing that in today's world, we all move a lot : just look at the "MrX, currently in..." mentions in our profiles. Moreover, where we are is already written in our profiles...

Second : In the poll, we can have only 10 options. That means either regrouping some countries... with the associated local susceptibilities Big Grin ; or not allowing some countries / areas to be represented...
I did try to make a repartition... Not easy to remain politically correct and remain inside of the constraint of 10 choices.

Finally, I did not do this poll; as I did not see how avoiding the Forum to enter in deep and strong discussions (as I have seen in other Forums...)...
I don't know what Art's and Moderators' position are about this...

Just my 2 cents...

Cheers.

Well, I was thinking about this :

Where do you live?

1. North America
2. Central & South America
3. Western Europe
4. Eastern Europe
5. Asia
6. Oceania
7. Afrika

It doesn't have to be that accurate. If you are European, you just say if you consider you country as part of East or West Europa. It's up to you. That's only to give an overview.

Firstly I'd like to say how thankful I am for the support (I've asked some pretty basic questions...) of everyone on this site. My knowledge of Soviet awards/medals has grown in leaps and bounds since joining up. I'm very happy with my collection and look forward to not only increasing it but also in becoming a regular contributor to this forum.

In regards to the last post. I'm a Kiwi (Not the fruit!!) living in London..

By the way...I think I'd prefer to be called an Australasian and not an Oceanian :p
