I think 70-100 USD is an OK price range; it is not 1991 anymore.

Hi,
there is a difference between type 1 and type 2. For a type1 is the estimate correct but for the type of 2 I give certainly not US80$ Marc

I have a question for the forum regarding an OLG III class I purchased.
It is a OLG III class, Type 2 with a serial in the 55,000 range. The interesting thing is that there are no markings to denote it being issued as a duplicate and the serial seems too low for a Type 1 award. The serial is inscribed with a rotating tool, just as one would expect. Has anyone seen something like this before? Also, would this make it more valuable than other Type 2 examples? Cheers, Will

Will,
The lowest number observed for a T2 is 44737, so yours is somewhere at the low end of the range, but not quite at the minimal point. Marc

Marc,
Thanks for the response. I didn't know that the Type 2s went that low and that is why I thought it could be a duplicate. I have seen countless Type 1s in the 100,000 range and so I thought the Type 2s probably started later in the 100,000 range. Did the produce both types at the same time at different mints? Cheers, Will

If you are in the former Soviet Union in one particular region for a while, you'll see certain blocks of serial numbers for these. Stuff does migrate, but if you are further away from the collection points, you'll see more awards closer together. I base this from a couple years in Uzbekistan where I see definite consistancies especially in OLGIII's - I would routinely see them fall into blocks of numbers: T1's in the 5k range, T1's in the 135k-145k range, and T2's in the 480k-490k range. I'd still see them outside these ranges, but usually I'd see them fall close to one of these three blocks.
