I guess I jumped the gun a bit due to the fact I have seen so many of these visors over the years and I could not imagine someone actually trying to sell a hat like this one as WWII. I have a 1967 Soviet maid visor made for the 50th Aniversary of the Revolution and it looks better than this one. Yet, you could never sell my 1967 example as a WWII piece or original. I also have 2 leather pieces from 1919-1920 and they really look nothing like these replicas offered on Ebay periodically. After you handle a genuine leather visor, you can always know the difference. Sorry if I talked too much.
All good points. Unfortunately, there are quite a few unscrupulous sellers trying to pass off repro stuff as original, and people who haven’t actually seen a real item get taken all the time. Particularly when you are talking about a seldom-encountered item.
