Lieutenant Colonel Bolesław Wojtas
#1
A group far from being complete (altough I am still hoping to retrieve at least few documents in january), the one known from the "urgent appeal..." post.
A group to Lt. Colonel Bolesław Wojtas, former Red Army officer (Sr. Lieutenant I belive), Stalingrad Battle Participant, Than Officer in the 1st Polish Army, participant of the Lenino Battle as well as many others (his campaign medals tell all!). Highly decorated (altough it seems that he had to wait a long time to get some of his awards: he got one of his Silver "Meritous on the field of glory" medals for Lenino battle in 1952, Virtuti Military Gold Cross after 1979, Soviet CS medal in 1973, Stalingrad Medal in 1983...
What's most impressive is his Wound badge: He was actually wounded 9 times! It's the largest wound badge I have ever seen. To make him even greater record holder - he was probably an owner of the most weird wound badge - the one he wore with his medals.
I have recently been positively surprised by a phonecall from the distant relative of ppłk. Wojtas, who has sent me a scan of his photo in parade uniform from 1979.
The thing above his wound badge is the Veterans association pin.

OT: Is there a way to find out what he got his CM for despite the fact that he probably was trasfered from the Red Army to the Polish army in 1943?
