Odd Red Army Adrian
#1
This is an odd looking Red Army Adrian; its not the 'large' star style that is more common (though very rare)...i have to admit to never having seen one like this, with this style of star and chin leather....put together, or rare varient?

Helemets are not my main area, but i have always like the red army adrians.

Not sure if it's just me, but I think that star looks like it was cut out of an officer's belt buckle - made about 20 years after this Adrian would have been worn...

Doug,

I agree with Dave on that one. Also, the chin strap is something I have never seen on ANY Adrian helmets, not just Soviet ones.

My guess was also that it was made up in some way, but not being a real helmet guy I wanted to post to see what others have to say.

the seller states the leather chin strap of this style was for officers ( in the french tradition); i do not know enough about French officers and their helmets to say much about that.

sure looks a whole lot like the belt I'm wearing right now. It would be interesting to see how it's rigged to the liner. I agree the star looks like it was cut out of a belt buckle. The helmet does shows holes for some sort of device on the front but not for this. The color does appear to be an original WWI french shade of blue.
All the same, I'd pass on this one.

Jerome,

That is not the same strap as the one you show.
