Orders of the Great Men

[medals73]

I know we don't often think comparatively, but I think we learn by doing so.

One theme to ponder are the orders of the various "great men".

Here are a few. Can others add others?

[medals73]

USSR: Order of Lenin/Орден Ленина

[medals73]

Mongolia: Order of Sukhbaatar/Одон Сүхбаатар

[medals73]

Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh Order/Huân chương Hồ Chí Minh

[medals73]

Bulgaria: Order of Georgi Dimitrov/Орден „Георги Димитров“.

[medals73]

Afghanistan: Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah/???

Off the top of my head.

Karl Marx, DDR
Gebhard Leberecht Von Blücher, DDR
Gehardt Sharnhorst, DDR
Aleksandr Nevskij, USSR and Bulgaria
Kiril And Methodij, Bulgaria
Kim Il-Sung, DPRK
Kim Jong-Il, DPRK
Yi Sun-Sin, DPRK
Bogdan Hmel'nits'kij, Ukraine
Stefan The Great, Moldova
Georgij Zhukov, Russian Federation

Plenty more in other post-soviet nations that should be covered here.

and of course that old stand up comedian Red Banner.

I'm not sure we should share images of each and every award named after a person (that's be a LONG and unfocused list), but go for the "flagship" orders.

I can't show (wish I could):
Cuba: Order of José Marti
DDR: Order of Karl Marx
Korea: Order of Kim Il-Sung
other relevant ones?

Here's something I have knocking about..... Have a trio in the collection all numbered.

I may be able to post detailed information one day.
Saving the best till last, if I get that far.

Doesn't Georgia have a Vartang?
