Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment

On 5.8.44 on the approach to Melets, he and his platoon demined more than 400 mines under enemy artillery fire, thus permitting the successful passage of our infantry.

On 6.8.44 during the Regiment’s forced crossing of the Vislok, Comrade Shpachenko, despite the absence of appropriate crossing means, organized the crossing of the Regiment’s subordinate units.  For three days without rest under continuous enemy fire Comrade Shpachenko worked on the crossing without displaying fatigue, supplying the regiment with ammunition, supplies, and evacuating wounded soldiers and officers to the near shore.

For capable demining and for a well-organized river crossing Comrade Shpachenko is deserving of the Order of the Patriotic War II Class.

Signed Commander, 225 Guards Red Banner Rifle Regiment,

Hero of the Soviet Union Guards Lieutenant Colonel Pleshkov on 26.8.44

Without seeing the actual document I can only guess, but the river Vislok seems to be Wisłok - a river that flows to San which flows to Vistula, situated in the southern Poland.
