Medal swapping...

I have find this set of 3 pictures yesterday whilelooking for something else. There are few things interesting about them - first is of course the uniform diversity - 2 well-worn gimnastiorki, one probably front-line manufacture gimnastiorka, officer's jacket (the guy was probably professional NCO holding an officer's post) and something that looks like modified German jacket.

What is even more interesting is the case of lending an award to a friend - if You look carefully, You will probably noticethat the well-decorated sr. sgt (in officer's service jacket) has given his CSM to his friend in unusual jacket for this photograph - If You check the last pic, You will see that the medal has already returned to it's owner.

Gents,

Guards Sergeant G. I. Lomakin was a sapper squad commander in the 17th Guards Rifle Regiment, 5th Guards Rifle Division. Nominated for HSU in April 1945 for action along the Baltic Sea, it was eventually downgraded to an OBKIII. As we know, awards of the OBKIII to enlisted men were not that common.

That's his son holding his wartime gimnasterka in the second image.

Here is Mother Heroine Anna Alekseevna Lytkina. At 85 she was celebrated by her local Jakut newspaper. On top of her Heroine star she has the set of Labour war participation Medals and a trio from the Republic of Saha. Also notice her right middle finger.

Thinking about the subject of Mother Heroines the minimum age any could be now logically would be mid-70's (Puberty plus 10 years for 10 births plus 18 years for the youngest to come of age plus 23 years of post-Communism).
