The new unit patch is worn on both arms as was the roayl blue KGB patch during the soviet era.

Aren't these patches branch-of-service rather than units? Or at least something on the scale of a regiment.

Well it is the patch of the regiment worn with a scroll above which says : "Presidientskii Polk" or Presidential Regiment....

OK -- I usually think of the term "units" referring to something comparable to a company ... :)
