Well, a new record for the screwback Red Banner from a known dealer on eBay... $999. Seller also has a Suvorov 2nd (no PMD cert, either) for $17,000... No thanks! :hurl

Guys,
This seller from Dave's post above, was originally partner with DM since about 1991. Those small catalogs (1991-1994) have both names on the cover, if you know what I'm talking about. He doesn't need PMD COA's, since he's been in business well before Mr. Paul saw his first Soviet Order ever So, no worries about that...However, for all these years, he was mainly dealing thru personal connections, and/or militaria shows, now he's all out with his website, etc. Prices, of course, are out of this world, but what can you expect - he needs these items to stay and make site look nice and busy, not to sell :idea From what I could notice, the red banner discussed was originally listed on website for 900, next day for 1600, and finally, next day on eBay for 999. Same story with Suvorov-2 and many others. So, please kindly give him some time to relax his ... muscle, and hopefully, he will one day join the other main US dealers..., on your favorite dealer's lists Cheers to all, -Alex.

I disagree in one respect, I asked to have one of his OPC's sent to Paul for authentication and he basically refused to do it if I was wanting a refund if it came back fake, and then he lied. He told me Paul does not authenticate OPC's which is not true.

On the topic of raising prices, I saw on e that an Order of October Revolution sold for over $300. Double what I paid for mine less than a year ago.... unbellievable

I noticed that as well...I was bididing on it :-) . It was a V1 (4 rivets)...but I've found that people still think they can get a good deal on "that auction site"..where, with a bit of sleuthing you can find dealers who can supply the same thing at a lesser price. I think bidding is like gambling, so people get carried away....like me

I agree with you, there will often be better deals over at the reputable dealers than on e.

I agree if it is a an more common medal, many times you can get it a dealer for a better price than ebay. But the harder to get orders generally are way out of line with a dealer as to what you would pay on ebay.
Good deals can be had you just have to search all the time. dannybou Wrote:I agree with you, there will often be better deals over at the reputable dealers than on e.

Interesting reading about the way prices are going.I went to a medal fair a few weeks ago and was disapointed to see so few Soviet awards displayed.
The handful of dealers were all of the opinion that their supplies were drying up and would not be getting any more in stock. So what does this indicate ? Prices have a long way to go - up. What I did buy was on the pricy side but good.At least you can see what you are buying and haggle over the prices a bit. Cheers Keith

I figured that most of the high end items had to be topping out, but then I looked on one of the US dealer's sites and saw they had individual Kutuzov's going for:
2nd class - $8800 3rd class - $7700 |
