Rare New Patch for the Collection
#1
I just acquired this rare variant...

...and learned it is in actuality a really nice Dembel. Note the outline where the previous star was removed and the insignia from a Motorized infantry patch substituted in its place. The patch was sewn to a uniform and has had some glue soaked fabric attached to the back to stiffen it up. The shoulder boards also have fabric attached to them to stiffen them up.

It's a fun addition to the collection, and certainly something that in a low resolution photo would have people going nuts, as I did when I bid on it.

From a distance, as in the original ebay ad, it looked real as could be, haha, but now I'm all the wiser. Furthermore, I think that because this is a dembel, it just adds validity to the point that this variant (black motorized infantry) never officially existed :)

I'm loving dembels...now I need to find one of the nice carved ones.

Nice set. It belonged to a conscript in a motorized rifles regiment in a tank division (as indicated by the velvet collar tabs), so everything is regulation-kosher, except the DEMBEL patch.

Well done Frank! That's avery nice Dembel. You were fortunate to spot it.

I just acquired a nice Demobilized VDV uniform with a very nice Dembel patch that I thought you and the rest of the guys might be interested to see. It was originally an Aviation patch and the VDV Trooper very carefully peeled the winged propeller off and put a metal VDV collar tab device in its place. So, here it is. All the best, Jim
