In the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan since September 1984. He presents himself as an excellently trained, motivated, and valorous officer. While under a massive enemy shelling on 30.12.84, he was the first to extinguish a fire at an explosives warehouse caused by a falling phosphorous rocket shell. Due to Senior Lieutenant A.S. Prokopenko’s decisive action while continuing to extinguish the fire despite having received Category 3-a and 3-b burns, an explosion was averted. He spent six months in hospital convalescence. After recuperation he participated in 27 combined arms operations in eight provinces of Afghanistan as the commander of a maneuver reconnaissance group. As a result of Senior Lieutenant A.S. Prokopenko’s reconnaissance and 85 discoveries, as many as 200 rebels, 90 weapons, and 16 radio stations were destroyed, three ammunition caches were captured, and five rebel caravan routes were discovered.

Do you have the Order Booklet or the Uchetnaya Kartochka to confirm that this ORS indeed corresponds to the citation shown?
