Red Star.
Hello guys,
Could anyone specify their dates? I could find only a table showing YEAR for specific serial numbers, not MONTH.

Is it at least possible to tell whether a piece is from WWII or postwar? thanks.

It is not possible to specify such exact dates and I don't know what table you are referencing. Awards were issued in bulk to a "front" or large operational unit and then awarded to subordinate units. The best you can do is an approximate year, if not season, but the only way to know the exact date is to research the piece.

#1.661M would be WWII-era. I have several #1.663M on file that were awarded for the Soviet campaign against Japan in late 1945.

The other one #1.415(?)M is also WWII era. If it is #1.415M, it was awarded by 4 Ukrainian Front.

Most of the numbers in this range are engraved a little bit childish.

Yes it is, only the screwback plate should be made from silver.

The 300k star sure looks good to me.

I see lots of sub-million ORSs, but those silver screwbacks rarely make it through the ages.

Another recent acquision from our local auction site.

At first I thought that the 3 o'clock arm was repaired but it is actually chipped and buffed down. It seems to be the original enamel since it doesn't glow under blacklight.

Since it is a MzPP star, I am hoping that it might be to a Polish soldier who didn't have access to supplies after he lost his screwplate.

Only research will tell.

Jeff,

To me this looks like a complete replacement of enamel on this star point. Can you post a better picture please.
