Red Star.
Hello All and Happy New Year!

Russian collector's print sources fix 6 basic Types and Duplicate type of the Order. Types of the Orders with Gosznak, Mondvor Mints, without Mint and with 3-rivets due to their high current market prices might be interesting to only very advanced collectors. Let's speak about Types with Monetny Dvor Mints and particular about screw post base type (Type 4 according to Russian classification). Please pay your attention at the brief abstract from the source.
Main features of the Type: screw post base, bayonet is directed to the letter "O", screwplate is from solid silver, Monetny Dvor Mint is stamped in 2 lines on the bottom of the upper star's ray, serial number is engraved on the lower part of the star. All pieces were produced at Moscow Mint.
Variation 1: Monetny Dvor Mint stamped "as hump", serial nubers range is 11849-23624.
Variation 2: Monetny Dvor Mint stamped "as cavity", s/n range is 16746-453454.
Variation 3: Monetny Dvor stamped "as cavity", serial number engraved by calligraphic figures, s/n range is 21315-45640.
Variation 4: Monetny Dvor stamped "as cavity", screwpost base is sinked under the level of the reverse, s/n range is unknown.
Hope it helps to collect the Order and check collections. Please feel free to ask questions about pieces you have in your collections or want to have.
If this information seems to be interesting for community I'll try find another hour of free time to post information about most prevailing Type 6, awarded since 1943 up to 1991.

Sergey, I for one would certainly like to know more about the '43-'91 series if you don't mind. These are subtle details you don't often find in books.

Thank you:thumbsup

Nice! Shortened screwpost? And are there a couple of faint letters to the right of the 'R' on Mondvor?

Now that you mention it, Eric, the screwpost does look shortened. The cyrillic letters are "CE".

Would this one fall into the category where actual silversmiths were still finishing pre-WWII badges - and in this case orders? I'm asking to try to figure out why the "CE" are there. Though I doubt it is a maker's mark, really doubt it, it's the first thought that popped into my mind when I saw the letters. Otherwise, I have no clue what they mean.

Regardless, it's a beautiful piece.:thumbsup I'm sure the seller only wants about $25 for it, right?

Nice piece with an early variation "MONDVOR" mintmark. The screwpost has been shortened. Is it enamel damage near the H&S?

This is a 1937 LMD production, and "CE" is one of the makers' marks commonly observed on pieces in this range.

Hello. This is a new Red Star in my collection.

The seller told me that it is a "Platinapribor". As far as I know, this should be the same as MZPP.
These stars are easily recognized by the inhomogeneous writing of the serial number, that has a "childish" look. In this particular case this feature is not so evident to me.

I would appreciate your opinions an this order, thank you.
