Sword of the Motherland is devoted to the study of the Russian military throughout various periods of history. We choose to analyze events in the context of the times that they occurred, from the position of those who were there, and do not endorse nor condemn any of the actions within this site. History has already made its decision, we are only attempting to bring this information to you so that you may learn and make up your own mind.

Russian Battlefield Web site

It is one of the best sites I have seen dealing with the Great Patriotic War. My favorite section deals with the interviews of Soviet soldiers. They have a lot of them translated into English, but if you can read Russian there is about 10 times the information. In addition they post field manuals (in Russian and in English), equipment profiles and other valuable information. This site is how I found out the HSU Dmitri Loza had died.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Take care,
Ed
