Some Soviet jokes

Look! This is the method of a conveyer belt,
But it seems to resemble more of a red tape,
And if we want to be more precise and less cautious,
We can call the method what it is-- just vicious.

In this picture from 1960, insignificance of the bureaucrats is intensified with their relatively small size compared to pens they hold and huge paper piles. In the upper-right corner of the poster there is an excerpt from the mouthpiece of the Communist Party--"Pravda" daily, which tells that:

"In 1959 the employees of Saratov Sovnarkhoz¹ have sent to lower levels 73 thousand orders, instructions, directions, memoranda and letters and other "proceeding" papers. And is there a need to speak about relationships with enterprises, if the heads of the departments still communicate mainly in a written form? Addiction to correspondence, faith in the power of a paper resulted in serious omissions in the work of Saratov Sovnarkhoz."

This kind of reporting shows
That the boss here is a manipulator.

Soviet rules required citizens to engage not only in manufacturing, but also in cultural programming. These events very often had a high dose of propaganda and not many people were attracted to that kind of cultural programs. There was no popular pressure for these programs, so people in charge of it could get along very easily without too much trouble. The poster criticizes one such "leader," who manipulates the numbers and indicators of performed "club work," and does not really perform his responsibilities.

The arguments of such a boss
Will result in a big loss.

Refers to the fact that in many restaurants only government inspectors or people with high positions could be serviced in an excellent manner (that theoretically everyone was supposed to receive) and with low (i.e. state- approved) prices.

I found this on another forum. I thought it was pretty funny...

Old man in Siberia was fishing. He cought a goldfish which promised him that she fulfil his one wish.
"Do you want a brand new Mercedes?" she asked
"Whatfor, we don't have gasolin here" old man answered
"Maybe young, sexy ready to fulfil your secret dreams girl?"
"I have wife and........ah I cannot do that in my age"
"So maybe you want to be a Hero of Soviet Union?"
"Oh......that's a great idea, free lunches, bigger pension, RESPECT!!! Yeah I want it!!!!"

BOOOOOM! BAANG!

...and suddenly old men found himself in a ditch with two antitank grenades in each hand facing two Tiger tanks approaching...

He only said "What a bitch, she gave me a posthumonous citation!"

Esteban
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

Cool !! Relax !! Smile

It's only a joke, and, as such, I found it funny. Big Grin
As a joke, it also reflects part of a culture... Wink

Kim, if you have others, please feel free to post them.

Cheers.
