Uniform 50´s
#1
This uniform is for sale by a dealer (member of the forum i think) and he does not know what it is but he thinks it is a police uniform from the 50´or 60´s...
Any opinions?

This one was on E-bay awhile back and we sort of hammered it; might be ploice or might just be a pur together. Wound stripes do not look right, but could just have been added by a vet of the war who was then a police officer.

It is my uniform, I was stupid enough to bid on that "so called" NKVD tunic that was up for discussion here. However, the story got worse. The seller in Ukraine, well known on this forum I guess, sent me the wrong uniform. If you look in the thread named something like "NKVD uniform", and see the photo, you can see a 1955 style uniform, double breasted (and I thought I would get that one!).

Well, this one that I got, is single breasted with 3 buttons. Not at all what I had ordered. 44 USD thrown to sea. It is too expensive to send it back. I have no clue what it is, the police uniform was a guess based on a guess in the NKVD thread. It has a cavellery insignia on right arm.

Cheers,
Patrik

Edited:
Worth to mention: it is not new-made, the lining shows dirt and wear, and it 'smells'.

I think that one you have bought is a definate fake unfortunately. The seller is question does come up with the odd good item but you really have to be careful. If in doubt do not buy or if you really like the look of the item, PM me or one of the other members of the board to take a look.
I hate to see a fellow collector getting stung like that...

If I had at least gotten the M55 style uniform that I actually bid on! The one I got (the one in the pic in the first post of this thread) was totally wrong!
I have attached a photo of the promised tunic in this thread;
http://www.soviet-awards.addr.com/forum/...eadid=2469
, it's a much nicer one!

The M55 style one (which was also discussed in an earlier thread where its authenticity was questioned) was quite handsome and could have been sold locally as Halloween outfit (= not to a collector but rather to someone that wanted something "russisch").

I was aware of what I bid on, but I got the wrong thing. I got a refund of 14 USD of the total price.

Argh.

Phew, I finally got rid of that one --- Traded it in for a navy visor cap in a store in Sweden.

well done mate for trading it in. Let that be a lesson to you. Be very careful when buying uniforms that you are not 100% sure of. We have all done and are all the more wiser for it! :D

I'd say the lesson would rather be:

MAKE SURE THE SELLER SHIPS YOU THE CORRECT ITEM!

As I have written earlier, I was out for a double breasted uniform of 1955 style (note: I dont say it was made 1955...) but got this small monster.
I knew what I bid on, but got the wrong thing.
