This desk medal is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the death of Bulgarian National hero Hristo Botev. .....On the reverse is the legendary ship "Radetcki".

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of Botev's death, a full-size replica of the steamship "Radetski" was built to become the center of the nationwide Young Pioneer (9 to 14 years old) meeting in 1966.

In 1876, Botev and his revolutionary friends had highjacked the Austrian ship to get to Bulgaria and join the uprising against the Turkish occupiers. Turkish soldiers killed Botev two weeks after he landed in Bulgaria.
