ClaretBaron,

Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Western hemisphere is flooded with rising quality fakes of all types of valuable coins (USA, France, Germany, etc).

As a matter of fact this is so bad, that I have put my Russian coins collection on hold.

I remember back in the 1980's a Korean jeweler was trying to sell an absolute perfect MS65 copy of an 1916 Indian head $10 gold eagle. I noticed immediately it was a fake due to fact the Philadelphia mint did not produce any that year. After he knew I wasn't a potential buyer he admitted to me it was a clever Chinese fake made of 22kt material. This problem has been around for quite a while and there are quite a few fakes floating around that are considered real. You almost have to go 3rd party evaluation before buying US gold nowadays.

They fake chicken eggs in China! This is funny, but I am not joking.

Fakery has been around as long as coinage has. There are Roman fake Roman coins.

Speaking of old eggs... I'm sure my 1942 US Issue tins of powdered eggs could be a delicacy somewhere (even if toxic).

They are made out of gelatine and cheap plastics, a bit toxic.

I remember the Government of Vietnam bought "some" of these eggs for import, and killed some people with em...

It appears that China is putting their own improvements on V.I. Lenin's message of hanging capitalists ("The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them." ) and it appears they are operating under:

"We will sell the Capitalists the fake rope with which they will hang themselves."

-as yet unattributed
