What exactly does the cover indicate?
Eric, the cover says "Workers of the World, Unite!" at the top and at the bottom is written "Red Army Man's Service Booklet" with a "Red Army Man" meaning enlisted, not an officer. A "private" was called a krasnoarmeets "Red Army Man" in the early days of the Red Army, then gradually became "ryadovoi" (private) as the Red Army changed its name to Soviet Army.
The "krasno-" you see in Russian means "red" as in Red Army Man and "Krasnodar" in Echoes.
