National Movement Of The Fatherland Front Badge.
#1
Greetings to All,

Found this badge on my last trip to Afghanistan. Never seen one of these before. The vendor told me that this badge was given to members of the Loya Jirga 'grand assembly'. Since I can't read what is on the badge, I am assuming that the vendor is correct in his translation. If not, please feel free to post your correction. From what I've read, this Loya Jirga is similar to the Deputy of the Supreme Soviet.

The badge itself is made of brass and looks to be gold plated. The color on the badge is either color epoxy or enamel paint; applied very thinly. Note the sun rays; similar to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR badge. There are five tiny circular lumps on the back of this badge to indicate where to solder the pin. No markings on the back.

Great badge ! Apparently badges are less common than medals.

Nice badge Dat,

Afghanistan doesn't seem to have issued a lot of badges, as Felix says you don't really see them that often.

The two below are a "Best" of badge and a cap badge of the Army or Police.

Regards Eddie.

Took a while to locate the info for this badge ... but thanks to one Brandon Burden ... this is a National Movement of Fatherland Front badge during the time of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.
