Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Ruiz - 04-26-2009 Thank you, I put photos on fake alert. Best regards. Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Ruiz - 04-26-2009 I need your opinion. Best regards. http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/soviet-military-awards/paper-items/20554-kgb-document.html Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - UQWozza - 04-26-2009 Hi, I also have my doubts about authenticity. I have seen lots of documents from this camp (North Pechorsk ITL). At the last local militaria fair (here in Australia!!!) I saw at least 10 documents from this camp. Unless it was a very big camp I suspect that someone is turning these out in large numbers. Did it come from a reputable source? Simon Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Nota Bene - 05-07-2009 Yep, a fake! We have seen many examples with the same hand writting. Alexei Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - deValcourt - 06-24-2009 Ruiz's document is definitely a fake from "Zozlo et. al." I can say this with complete certainty since I once bought a similar document with the same picture.:o Also, not only is he back in business, I think he took his forced hiatus time to make more of these IDs and raised his prices even more than before because "If you notice, the price of medals go up 100% each year. So will be true with documents, and soon documents will be more expensive than the medals..." or some sort of nonsense like that. He needs to get some new faces - but I bet it won't be this one:D Night all, Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - deValcourt - 08-23-2009 This is the only NKVD/ SMERSH era (1941 according to the cover) document I believe is genuine because of it's simplicity, the ink and the condition of the paper. My only concern is that there seems to be a double stamping on the left side. If you agree it is authentic, could you help with figuring out what the faded print might say? I'm hoping someone has better knowledge (DougD) of these and can fill in the gaps with logical assumptions. The signature also has me doubtful. Any help and/or opinions would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Phillip Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - deValcourt - 08-23-2009 Here are closer scans of each stamp - they are not the same:confused:: Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - EricFG - 08-23-2009 Any stamp ink on the lower, right hand side of the photo? Or even indentations of the stamp? And it looks like there is an overstamp on that side as well (two stamps) Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - deValcourt - 08-23-2009 Eric, The double stamping is my main concern. You have to hold it right to see it, but yes there is some ink left on the lower right corner of the picture as well as a ring indentation from the outer lip of one (or both of the stamps). I don't know why someone would need to stamp over the first one, but as I said before, the stamp on the other side is different. In the plus column is the fact that the original typing is faded but you can still make out НКВД in a couple of places. Also, as I said before, the paper is actually old and brittle as well as the hinge and cover. I saturated the color all the way and you can see the ink on the photo. Also, both stamp marks seem to be the same wording, but it looks like the first time it was stamped, the Soviet State emblem didn't come out very well because that is hardly distorted. This is clear from looking at the stamp in the picture of the opposite side (#2 above) where the "gerb" didn't show up very well and faded into a brownish color whereas the over-stamp retained it's purple color. The first stamp follows the wording of the ID itself: "Special Department, NKVD 57th Army". The second (purple) stamp on the photo side with the clear "gerb" has the words "Комиссариат" and "Дел" as well as "армии" but the number is not 57. Whatever the number, it ends with either a 3 or 8. My only guess is that since he was part of the "ОО" of the НКВД, he might have been reassigned at some point before the ID expired. I dunno. I've seen (and have - unfortunately) a number of fake NKVD IDs, but none of them even remotely resemble this one. The more I look at it, the more convinced I am that it is real. Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Keith - 04-24-2010 Does anyone have any opinions about this document? What exactly would this document be for? Keith |
