And I doubt that Willie would have received enough of these to cover himself in ribbons up to his ankles :laff Marc Wound Stripes - Christopher - 11-01-2008 Hi all, I'm new to this forum and not a collector, but trying to put a display case together for a family member. I have some questions regarding Wound Stripes. The attached photo shows my wife's grandfather (Sgt on the left) sometime in 1944 wearing what I believe is a wound stripe. He lost all his war time awards/medals after being wounded again, and I'm trying to replace them. 1. He gave me all 4 of his "Spravka O Raneni" wound card certificates. Would he have been eligible to wear 4 wound stripe patches? 2. I've searched various online sites and couldn't locate any wound strips that matched the one in the photo. Were there many different variations/patterns/sizes of each worn? 3. Any thoughts where to obtain original or reproduction wound stripes? Thank you for any help! Chris Wound Stripes - pastfinder - 04-12-2010 I just added to sets of wound stripes to my collection. I have seen these in the 1989 USSR Uniform manual, but never in person. They are much smaller than I thought (image with ruler for those interested). I lost out on the auction for two other sets on olive green/khaki fabric (auction pictures included) but hopefully down the road I can find some. Any uniform collectors ever see these sewn on a uniform? Wound Stripes - Komandir RKKA - 04-13-2010 I think the left are Navy stripes. The early and late wartime wound stripes Wound Stripes - EricFG - 04-13-2010 Nice stuff, thanks for showing them off. I always wanted to find a GPW-era stripe to add to my display. How late (1970s, 80s?) were these awarded/issued and worn? I see so few of them in later era photos and only then usually on the uniform of a GPW vet. Wound Stripes - Riley1965 - 04-13-2010 Where do the Wound Stripes go when there are Orders on the uniform? Above? Below? :thumbsup:thumbsup Doc Wound Stripes - desantnik - 04-13-2010 Are you certain these are wound stripes? Similar bars were worn by cadets reflecting their year of study on the sleeves. Wound Stripes - EricFG - 04-13-2010 riley1965 Wrote:Where do the Wound Stripes go when there are Orders on the uniform? Above? Below? The uniform guys can say for sure but I think I usually see them above everything on the right chest. Wound Stripes - Komandir RKKA - 04-13-2010 If interested in wound stripes contact me by PM. Wound stripes weared on the right side as you see on photo of this azeri former tankist. Wound Stripes - Komandir RKKA - 04-13-2010 Sometimes fighters used frontmade stripes, could be even metal made. |
