Jubilee Medal "65 Years Of Victory In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945". - kazanskiitatar - 04-26-2012 I recently picked up an interesting document associated with the 65th anniversary medal in 2010. Issued by the Russian Embassy in Latvia to a veteran. I've seen similar documents for 60 and 65th anniversary medals issued by the Russian Embassy in Estonia, Lithuania, and Moldova. The serial number merits some discussion. Serial number is 22840, block A. Certainly there couldn't have been over 20000 VOV veterans in Latvia in 2010...? Perhaps the later serial numbers from the whole run (including documents issued in Russia as the document design is the same) were reserved to be issued by Russian embassies abroad? Any thought/opinions/comments? Jubilee Medal "65 Years Of Victory In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945". - deValcourt - 05-08-2012 An old friend/seller sent me this one. No document, but perfect condition in the original case. Unfortunately, the photos were inconsitent in terms of color. The foam background is a mother-of-pearl white (not the redish gold that some pictures have). Since shots of the reverse seem to be missing here I made a point to take a few. I have plenty of examples of accidental double issuing of the same Commemorative Medal as well as a Pair of OPW2'85s to the same recipient. I even have a group where the same person was accidentally issued the same Commemorative Medal three times. These are all down to administrative errors as each recipient was only ever supposed to be issued one of each. There is however an exception. A recipient of a pair of the same Commemorative Medal, this Commemorative Medal is possible for one tiny group of people. The group that were awarded this Commemorative Medal twice were Ukrainian veterans of the Great Patriotic War who had emigrated to the State Of Israel and registered with the correct Veterans organisation and survived to be issued the Medals in 2010 - not a large group. These Veterans were awarded this Commonwealth Of Independent States Medal by both Ukraine and the Russian Federation's Ambassador to the State Of Israel. The Medals are not identical as the RF ones were minted by the Saint Petersburg Mint and the Ukrainian ones were minted by the Ukrainian Mint. I also believe the example is post 12 to be a fake. Look at the ring and complete lack of mint mark. She happens to be one of the Ukrainian Veterans that was awarded twice. These embassy awarded Ukrainian examples do not have any indication of being so without the additional support of the Russian Federation Document. All Israeli residents that received this, should have received the RF one too but if you just find the single document, you'll have a hard time proving it. |
