Unknown early badge fake(?) - Al-muell - 09-27-2012 Lapa Wrote:Al-Muell, Pardon me ignorance, but how can I do that? Tough I would not be surprised if it is. Thanks for solving the mystery anyway.:thumbsup Unknown early badge fake(?) - Lapa - 09-27-2012 Al-Muell, You can use a pin to gently scratch the surface. If there is no trace left, it is glass enamel (hot enamel), if the pin scratches the "enamel", then it is epoxy (cold enamel). Marc Unknown early badge fake(?) - Pobeda45 - 09-28-2012 Black light will also reveal this too, cold enamel "glows" under black light. Obviously the top and the left star arm are the replacements, right? Unknown early badge fake(?) - Pobeda45 - 09-30-2012 Exactly right Eric...here's how the same Red Star looked without the black light btw. My suspicions were confirmed under black light. The black light flashlight trick is one I use a lot. Hot enamel won't "glow;" epoxy, paint, or cold enamel will. :thumbsup George Unknown early badge fake(?) - Al-muell - 10-03-2012 back to the "badge": epoxy indeed... |
