Identification on a black cap - otlichnik - 08-06-2003

Charlet,

You are right that it looks a lot like a Yugoslav Partisan Star III, which, as you know is a breast badge and not a cap badge.

The Partisan Star, which I am holding in my hands right now, is a bit different. First, it is twice as big. It is a full 39 to 40mm in size. Also, the Partisan Star is very thick and very heavy and made of silver. The enamel is darker, the guns are darkened or blued and are at a slightly sharper angle - there is less space beween the gun handles and the lower points of the star.

But you are right it looks a lot like the cap badge. I had thought that you meant the Yugo cap badges and was not thinking of the Partisan Star.

yes Shawn, if it was a partisan star on the visor, it would overlap largely from the frontband's limits...The yougo cap badges are very nice but they had a thick silver crown surrounding the star.
These things having been clarified for everyone, what bothers me now is that I don't find the badge seen on bazanov's cap on the Kutsenko's booklet on hat badges...do you have better eyes than me and help me?
