Kieth - a great point.
I also collect German orders and medals...my best source being in Germany.
The marked increase in value of EURO against the dollar has had a significant impact on prices and my "initiative" to collect those items at the moment!

I hadn't heard that part of the story yet! Big Grin

The thing that makes me suspect about a lot of stories is that I've attempted to sell some of my higher end stuff (Cavaliers and HSU's) to Russia (and to dealers that have been sending a lot back), even at the prices I paid for it several years ago. Maybe it's just me, being a "non-pro" in the business, but I have yet to sell anything back to Russia. Most of the reaction I get is "that's nice... try someone else". And later, I hear the fantastic stories about how EVERYTHING is going up in price! Maybe that's true in Russia, but it sure as heck isn't helping me to sell stuff! Sad

Dave,
Are you trying to become "pro". How about this Badge of Honor for $495 + shipping Big Grin ?

Of course! Big Grin I got tired of seeing awards I sold end up on dealer's websites for two to three times what I sold them for less than a year before. So, I figured I'm obviously undercharging people! Thus, I might as well raise my prices too...

Seriously, I'm flexible on the price. I'm just waiting for the person who bought the recently offered Ushakov medal + Red Star group to buy my award! Wink

It just sold for an extremely high price. If the buyer is on this forum, I'd be interested in hearing what was so valuable about the group, as I didn't see it.

Noticed in the website of a well known NJ dealer : the Order for Personal Courage, Var. 1, SN7739, circa 1991, PMD COA, for sale without success during some 2 years time, is now proposed at $1,275.00.
It former price was $1,100.00, after having been around $1,000.00.
Last increase : +15% !! Will this increase contribute more to its sale ?

There is a another dealers site I look at often and he has been doing the same. He has raised his prices twice in the last month. He had some hero stars for around the $2900, now there $3500.

It is simple. When collectors see that the prices are the same (or go down), they don’t buy, waiting for better deal. When prices are going up collectors are afraid that they will be higher tomorrow and buy the order or medal. If you need a Star of Hero of USSR, not too many dealers have it; you probably would buy it now for $3500.00 (blaming your self for not buying for $2900.00) but the same time being afraid that it will be $4500.00 tomorrow. I think this is the main reason of raising prices today.

Eric.
