Cosmonaut's white uniform - Christophe - 11-26-2003 The 2 following pics are real signatures of Gagarin. Youi can see they are quite different, probably depending of circumstances. Cosmonaut's white uniform - Christophe - 11-26-2003 This one has been taken on the occasion of a dinner... seems having been signed rapidly... Ch. Cosmonaut's white uniform - Christophe - 11-26-2003 And this last one is a pre-printed signature of Gagarin. I think Dr Bob hypothesis (a "signer") has seriously to be considered, but the original signatures show so much difference that... I personally find many similarities between the signature of our case and the pre-printed one... But difficult to draw conclusions... I'm still for the "mirror image". Ch. Cosmonaut's white uniform - skipper1939 - 11-26-2003 I am not a handwriting expert, but I do know something about what they look for. I would say those were written by two different hands. I think the possibility of mirror image is about 95%. Plus, Gagarin had worn a uniform for many years (from age 16 on, as I recall) and even if it were a special order, he would have surely felt unbalanced by sheer instinct. Anyway, he was one of the really good guys of Soviet aviation and was known to be a champion instinctive pilot. That he was used as a symbol of Soviet technological progress should not distract from his memory. I would imagine that he was as puzzled by all the publicity as Charles Linbergh was. His tragic death, in a situation where he should have been able to eject, is still a mystery. Dr. Bob Cosmonaut's white uniform - otlichnik - 11-27-2003 It is a mirror image. In the flipped version which Tretov posts above the tunic is shown to fasten in the correct male version (left over right) and castro can be seen with ciggie in his proper left hand. He (or someone) signed a picture printed in reverse, that is all.
