Glossary of Soviet Terms and Abbreviations - matteti - 03-24-2008 Great job you guys started here (particularly Taz!). I have a question aobut one abbreviation for which I cannot find the meaning. It is in the service record of a soldier.. at the end, it says: "Discharged from staff of the Soviet Army into reserve according to article 59 “b” (because of disease) with the right of wearing military uniform, on the registration to Dobel RVI Latvian SSR" What does "RVI" stands for? I would say it's a kind of military office or authority where this information was registered, but what is it exactly? Thanks in advance to our experts!
