So, it's consistent with the date. My guess would have been wrong if you had this medal since an earlier date than May 2004.

I got this type 2 variation 3 medal today. It has an interesting plastic cover to protect the ribbon. There are only one tiny crack in the cover.
I think this will be the first medal in over 6 months! Can't believe I made it that long. :yow

Yes, When You mention it I think I have seen it too. I wonder when this plastic material first was used... fourties maybe fifties? Or much later perhaps?
