Translation Help - deValcourt - 08-29-2011 I thought so, but I'm trying to live more by the expression: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.";) Phillip Translation Help - iltt - 08-29-2011 Auke Wrote:Khrisanf Pavlovich Neshkov and Sergei Dmitriyevich Orlov. Thank you Auke! It is very kind of you to help me a lot.:thumbsup Translation Help - Will - 09-05-2011 I THINK that I have copied this Russian phrase correctly, but I am not certain, because I have a difficult time with the cursive or lower-case Russian alphabet, and this phrase as it was printed used lower case or cursive letters. It is a description of a Soviet Navy banner, but I am not certain of the specifics. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! знамя бойскобых частей и соеднений вмф Translation Help - desantnik - 09-05-2011 Will Wrote:I THINK that I have copied this Russian phrase correctly, but I am not certain, because I have a difficult time with the cursive or lower-case Russian alphabet, and this phrase as it was printed used lower case or cursive letters. l\Literally - "Banner of Soviet naval units" (the voiskovye chasti and soedineniya are large- to medium-sized units to differentiate them from smaller units that wouldn't have had their own banners anyways). Translation Help - Will - 09-05-2011 Thanks VERY much, Desantnik ! Translation Help - Auke - 09-05-2011 I'd say "Banner of Soviet naval units and formations". It's just a small detail, but chasti denotes units and soyedinenia formations. Just like in English the two together cover all sizes; in the army for example everything from platoon up to brigade level is a unit and everything from brigade level upwards is a formation. Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 10-02-2011 Hi All, Any ideas what this means? It's from an anniversary medal document. Районный инженер 1783 ВП МО [approving officer rank and signature on next line] Thanks in advance for the help! :thumbsup Alex Translation Help - CtahhR - 10-02-2011 District Engineer 1783 Military Representative Ministry Of Defence Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 10-04-2011 CtahhR Wrote:District Engineer 1783 Military Representative Ministry Of Defence Thanks! So this gives no indication of location, then? Translation Help - CtahhR - 10-04-2011 I'm sure the location can be found through the reference number (1783) but that's far beyond my own knowledge and references. Someone out there will know. |
