Translation Help - desantnik - 06-09-2012 Andrej Wrote:thanks CtahhR and Desantnik! If you provide a scan of the name we could better answer your question. Translation Help - Auke - 06-09-2012 I think it's "11th Reserve Rifle Regiment, 10th Reserve Rifle Division". Translation Help - Andrej - 06-09-2012 desantnik Wrote:If you provide a scan of the name we could better answer your question. Sure!:thumbsup It's a doc on sale in the net... Here it is in attachment! Translation Help - CtahhR - 06-09-2012 Could be a Z, could be! Translation Help - Andrej - 06-10-2012 Thanks guys! I agree with Auke, it could really be "11 ЗАП, 10 ЗАД", a reserve unit. I really don't know if he could be the same person:confused:...what's your opinion? Only for my personal knowledge: how do you translate "Автоматчик"? I ever figured it something like "light machine gunner" (like a gunner of a Degtyarev LMG)...am I correct? Now, in the useful "Glossary of the soviet military and related abbreviations", I read "моторизованный батальон автоматчиков" translated as "motorized submashinegun battalion" Thanks again:thumbsup Translation Help - desantnik - 06-10-2012 Andrej Wrote:Thanks guys! He was a submachinegunner - most likely carried a PPSh 41 or 43. Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 06-24-2012 Need help transliterating/translating/interpreting the signature portions of these two docs, please. The docs are part of a set (probably incomplete) of 10 anniversary awards to a Moscow KGB Lieutenant-Colonel. 1. 30th Anniversary of the Red Army medal, first doc in the set Head of the OO of the MGB [what is this?] ...[Last two words?]... Colonel [right?] ...[Who?]... 2. Lenin centenary medal Department Head [of what?] Major General ...[Who? Impossible signature]... Related to the 2nd doc: What does the "No. 51" stamp correspond to? The same general signed off on another doc stamped KGB on the outer line, "для хозяйственных и денежных документов" "No. 4" on the inner line. Any idea what that is? This set will be posted in full in late August. Hopefully answers here will help me put together a more complete history of the group by then. Thanks in advance for the help! Alex Translation Help - Auke - 06-24-2012 ОО МГБ is the Особый отдел (Special Department) of the MGB. See: Особый отдел — Википедия The doc is signed by Colonel Davydov. Regarding the 2nd doc: without additional documentation there's no way of knowing which department is meant here. We only know it was part of the KGB... Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 06-25-2012 Auke Wrote:ОО МГБ is the Особый отдел (Special Department) of the MGB. See: Особый отдел — Википедия Thanks, Auke. Can you make out OO МГБ of what? And any idea who signed the second doc (even some possibilities)? Cheers, Alex Translation Help - Auke - 06-25-2012 RedMaestro2 Wrote:Thanks, Auke. Can you make out OO МГБ of what?Almost looks like "по метро" ("for subway matters")? I don't know if that makes sense?
