Translation Help - Auke - 06-26-2012 Елизаров could also be an option... The last one is definitely Гришин (Петр Григорьевич Гришин?). And there's a chance that the second one is Федорчук (for Виталий Васильевич Федорчук). Would make sense given the time frame. Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 06-26-2012 Auke Wrote:Елизаров could also be an option... Thanks, Auke. I agree with Grishin. I'll need to do more research to confirm if that makes sense. So far I found one P. G. Grishkin involved in some sort of mobilization department. Not seeing Elizarov or Fedorchuk though. To start with, both of the signatures have an "й". I don't see other letters lining up in the right place either (the D in Fedorchuk, for instance). They sure didn't make this easy  Cheers, Alex Translation Help - CtahhR - 06-26-2012 If this was supposed to be easy I think I'm having problems! Nothing in life worth anything is easy! Translation Help - Auke - 06-27-2012 If there's one thing I've learned it's not to try and explain every single pen movement. Just compare those two signatures from the same guy, they are quite different from one another. With a little creativity every single letter of "Федорчук" is there, but in the end it's just a guess. After some digging, I found this sample of Fedorchuk's signature. It's a lousy scan from way back when, unfortunately. It's also from 1982, in his tenure as head of the KGB. How do you think the signatures compare? Translation Help - deValcourt - 06-30-2012 Frankly guys, trying to decipher signatures without a known database of other example signatures (I can spot Beria's a mile away, but not many others) is like trying to piece together a 1000 piece puzzle of a polar bear in a white-out blizzard.:) If you saw my signature, you would be hard pressed to decide what language it was in - much less the actual letters. At the same time kudos to all of you with the ability and patience to go for it. For instance, Fedorchuk was a really good guess from Auke. Historically, it would work perfectly. In the end, the signature I found (consistent with other examples from Fedorchuk) disproves it. Close though! Phillip, do you have a list of MGB/KGB generals? Looking through that would help a lot. :) Alex Translation Help - medals73 - 07-07-2012 Name help, please. Thanks in advance. Translation Help - matteti - 07-07-2012 Not an expert, but to me it looks like Абидова, Фукия (Abidova, Fukiya). If this is not correct, the second word, her first name, could be Фухия (Fuxiya) Translation Help - Auke - 07-07-2012 It seems to be Rukia Abidova. |
