Translation Help - medals73 - 07-07-2012 Thanks! What sort of name is this? Central Asian? Translation Help - CtahhR - 07-08-2012 Possibly Uzbek. Translation Help - medals73 - 07-09-2012 I suspect her name was Rukhia bint Abid (Rukhia d/o Abid) which got Russified as you see this. There is a great deal of mangling of these names. Not sure I'd call it an "Arab" name, but it surely is a generic Muslim female naming of the area, something you could find in Iran or Afghanistan as well. Translation Help - medals73 - 07-16-2012 Could someone help me with what it says on the banner, please. Translation Help - Sergei - 07-16-2012 Долой душителей пролетарской революции. Да здравствует всемирный союз трудящихся. Down with suppressors of proletarian revolution. Long live the worldwide union of workers. Translation Help - medals73 - 07-16-2012 Thanks! :thumbsup A nice sentiment. The full photo. Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 07-21-2012 Here are two snippets from an awfully scanned citation (as if the handwriting wasn't hard enough!). I've managed the entire rest of the document except for these. The context of the first snippet: "в ???? не был" The second is just didn't this, didn't that (but what?) Thanks in advance! :thumbsup Edit: Cancel the first! It's "плену" Still need help with everything in the second image. Thanks! Translation Help - Sergei - 07-21-2012 в плену Sorry, forgot the translation in captivity probably Translation Help - RedMaestro2 - 07-21-2012 Sergei Wrote:в плену Thanks, Sergei. I got it right after I posted. Any ideas for the second? Translation Help - Sergei - 07-21-2012 Yeah, Did not live on the occupied territory На оккупированной территории не проживал |
