Patriotic War. - Chris - 02-21-2003 The Pat War 1st Class 85 issue is. Quote. The order is made of silver with large portions Gold-Plated. Unquote. Paul McD's book on soviet medals. A real bargain if you consider the material. I got one with book for about 8 dollars. Pat 2 the same but not gold plated. Chris Patriotic War. - JensF. - 02-26-2003 Here is the Order 1st Class: A type 2 variation 1. Patriotic War. - Al-muell - 03-04-2003 I have bought this document some time ago, but it still makes me curious. I thought that order of Patriotic War was given onlyshortly after the War, but here's the translation of the text from this documents (mistakes are possible): "For Courage (...) shown in fight with German-fascist enemies(?) and to notice 40th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 years (...)" So, was the Patriotic War given in 1985? Wasn't there any special 40th anniversary medal? And the second question about the same documents: there is a number printed (335644) and it is not order number, because this one is written and is 3094381. Any idea what the first number is. And btw: the order was given to certain Ivan Andrieievich Lieshchuk. Patriotic War. - otlichnik - 03-04-2003 You really need either a good book or a long search on this forum to give you the full story. But briefly, there are really two Orders of the Patriotic War. The one introduced in the 1942 and issued during and shortly after the war. In exceptional cases, people whose claims had got lost or whatever, it did continue to be issued long after the war. Then there is the 1985 version. Unlike the 40th anniversary medal issued to all veterans and current servicemen the 1985 Order of the Patriotic War was issued only to some veterans, those that had receieved certian awards during the war - I don't have my references handy to tell you more. The other number is likely the document number and should have a letter in front of it. Shawn Patriotic War. - olezha11 - 03-18-2003 Have anyone seen this variation on the left? It looks like type1 var2, but it's smaller. It has smaller suspention as well. Has anyone come across of something like this? Patriotic War. - olezha11 - 03-18-2003 This one has SN# at 6 o'clock position. Has anyone seen this before? Patriotic War. - Nota Bene - 03-19-2003 Oleg, I have. It's not that uncommon. I am not sure the one on the left is genuine. Alexei Patriotic War. - yolkin - 04-11-2003 Folks, I have seen the attached OGPW2 on E! for many months now, but was always suspicious of the reverse. I am pretty sure it is an original, but what are the three lines just below the s/n? Check for silver? (Tal, I searched for this topic, but could not find it...) Eric Patriotic War. - Nota Bene - 04-11-2003 Eric, Either just scratches or a 3rd class :) Alexei Patriotic War. - AlexF. - 06-30-2003 Hi to all, Just came across these two Orders of Patriotic War 2nd class, type 3, 1985 issue. Both have a rectangular area under the serial number polished off in a neat and quality fashion, apparently at the factory. Then the serial number was written in the usual all familiar style. Did anyone happen to come across something like this? Both have a pretty close serial numbers, falling into LMD's issue of 1,023,401 - 1,478,200. Thanks, Alex. |
