Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - charlet - 01-24-2004 same - nice - black ink handwritting... Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - kabanchik - 01-24-2004 On the second ID submitted by Tal, it seems that the photo is of an officer dressed in a M1955 parade uniform (judging by the metal laurel branches and small metal branch device in the apex of each), yet the document page, on which the photo appears, is dated 1980!! It seems a broad stetch of logic to think that the Soviet state security organs would issue an official ID with a photograph at least 20-25 years old!!! Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - otlichnik - 01-24-2004 Aw, c'mon Kabanchik. You know that KGB guys were notoriously out of fashion. ;) All I can say about these fake KGB IDs is "what took them so long"? They have been faking all the rest for several years. Shawn Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Al-muell - 03-04-2004 I don't know much on this stuff. Is it original? Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Tal Inbar - 03-04-2004 It is a chep tourist item - it is a joke. Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Al-muell - 03-05-2004 Tal Inbar Wrote:It is a chep tourist item - it is a joke. Luckily I haven't bought it. Thanks! Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Nota Bene - 03-07-2004 Al-muell, Actually in stead of the "State Security" it says "State Insecurity". LOL! Alexei Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - otlichnik - 03-08-2004 Alexei, This is what has always mystified me. Until recently there were fakes of all pre-KGB state security IDs (MGB, NKGB, NKVD, OGPU, Cheka and of course SMERSH) and there were the cheapo, blank "KGB" IDs with the joke name. But, there were no actual fake KGB IDs. I assumed that this must be due to some sort of fear of actually forging a KGB ID. The fact that there must have been some strong law on the books which covered KGB but not earlier organs. I wonder what changed? A law? Or did the fakers just get over their fear? After all, genuine KGB IDs are probably the most expensive. Shawn Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Nota Bene - 03-10-2004 Chawn, I can't explain it either. KGB no longer exists, and I would think it makes no difference what to fake. Could it be possible, that up untill now they never had a genuine late issue ID to copy? I don't know. Alexei Fake CheKa/NKVD/KGB Documents - Bill Dienna - 10-19-2004 I saw this on ebay. I actually placed a bid for about the minimum, because although I believed that it is probably fake, I thought that it would be interesting to have. I would be interested in other opinions. On the one hand, every fake K.G.B. identity card that I have seen from the modern era was of a completely different "novelty" item style. This example does look like the contemporary K.G.B. identity cards. The things that caused me to think it a fake are: 1. The cover seems to have what looks to me to be excessive wear, as though done artificially. I just don't think that something carried in a jacket pocket would become this grimy. 2. The photo: it seems to have a white space at the lower right corner. I've never seen this before on an I.D. photo. My thought was that it might have been copied from another I.D. document, in which case the rubber stamp from that document would have been on it. So THAt part of the photo was covered when it was copied for this document, thus leaving the white corner. 3. The writing: All of the KGB documents of this type that I have seen have a beautiful script writing, almost like caligraphy in execution. this one looks like someone attempted to do it, but without success. The writing to me looks too...clumsy, I guess. Also, shouldn't there be a number under the photo? Anyone else have any thoughts ? |
