Soviet uniform piece - Riley1965 - 11-13-2005 Hi All. I just picked up my first Soviet uniform piece. I got to admit my focus had been until now just ODMs. But, this uniform caught my eye. Any input on this would be welcomed. I know very little about uniforms. Soviet uniform piece - Nack - 11-13-2005 You've got what's called a "dembel" or "de-mob" uniform tunic. At the end of a conscript's hitch, he was unofficially allowed to jazz up his uniform. These uniforms range from slightly upgraded to really fancy. You've got a pretty cool one there, congrats :) Soviet uniform piece - Riley1965 - 11-13-2005 What is the shoulder cord for? Marc Soviet uniform piece - Riley1965 - 11-13-2005 Who officially would wear this shoulder cord ? Soviet uniform piece - Lapa - 11-13-2005 Riley, No one. According to regulations, it does not belong to this uniform. Marc Soviet uniform piece - Nack - 11-13-2005 I get your question Riley--the person who jazzed up this uniform had to get the cords from somewhere, presumably a military store, so someone would have worn cords like these, so who was that? If that is your question, my answer is I'm not sure. My guess is that the fancy shouldercords were hand-made from regular cords. Attached is a picture of paratroops wearing a single white cord--the cord on your tunic looks like it was made out of a few similar white cords. Soviet uniform piece - Riley1965 - 11-15-2005 That was my question. Thank you for the info. I just stumbled into the world of uniforms and I have a lot to learn!!! Soviet uniform piece - vikingraider1 - 11-15-2005 If you look at the shoulder cords on the front of that book and on the uniform they are different though. The ones used for parade are not as "frilly". Soviet uniform piece - Nack - 11-15-2005 By "frilly" do you mean the pom-poms/tassles/whatever, or the actual cords themselves? |
