First Marshal of Russia dies - DougD - 11-23-2006
This is about 2 weeks old:
Marshal Igor D. Sergeyev, a career soldier who rose to command Russia's nuclear missiles and then became defense minister, presiding over a deteriorated military until being fired in 2001 (mishandling of the Kursk tragedy)died yesterday in Moscow. He was 68 and died of blood cancer.
He was the first to be given the marshal rank in post-soviet Russia.
