What color ties were used on soviet uniforms depending on branch of service and occasion?

Ties - Lapa - 02-08-2007

Parade = black
Service = green

There was a difference in material between officers and generals/admirals. Branch of service was without meaning.

So no paisley or polkadot I assume? ;)

Eric,

maybe....diplomatic services often wore a 'civilian' tie, even with parade uniforms! I have seen stripes for one.

I meant ALL soviet branches. These are Only for army, air force, KGB, MVD, border guards, I think...

What about aeroflot? Militia? possibly even morflot?

Are you sure? I thought army used gray tie for parade; and navy used black tie for parade.

I guess we're talking about officers (versus enlisted, who would wear their formation uniforms with different belts, I think)--if they had a sea-wave green uniform, it would probably be a black tie. I haven't seen any examples of grey ties, to be honest.

Though I have seen some cases in which air force officers wore dark blue ties in their service uniforms...not sure why. Also seems to be more common with Army Generals.

Well, I stand corrected. Damnit... I even wear a black tie myself :D

But where does all my gray ties come from then :s

Ties - willie777 - 02-08-2007

I heard from one of those ukrannian guys that grey was militia...
BTW, Nice cap...

Tretov,

Militia officers wore grey ties on their parade uniform (I should know, I just got one a couple of weeks ago)
