New Helmet book - Kim - 10-06-2002

Hi all!

Has anyone looked at the new book about soviet/russian helmets? It's printed with bender-publishing. Only 128 pages but 161 photos and a promise of a lot of info:

Quote:"Russian Helmets" provides the keys to accurate identification of the various models of Russian and Soviet helmets, from steel to exotic metals and composite fiber.

I have bought one but it will take about 6 weeks to Sweden by ship :(

New Helmet book - Kim - 02-20-2003

So finally I got the book. I was naive to think 8 weeks...

About this book then:

I think it's great to at last have a book on russian/soviet helmets. It has been long over due. A good thing is that there are lots of photos of the different types of helmets. But too many of the photos are of poor quality, too dark and out of focus. Another thing I like and will have great use of is the info on the helmet ink stamps.

I would have liked some sources in the text, so that I could see were he got that specific information. He mentions russian archives, fellow collectors etc in the introduction. But I want more...;)

It's a good book but it could have been better. If he had used the web he could have had more good photos of stuff the book is now missing. But if you like soviet/russian helmets this is a book to buy!
