Greatcoat-Tag - red89 - 05-07-2010 Hello, I haven't written anything for a while. I was wondering if someone could help with the abbreviation MSR at the top of this tag? It's attached to a greatcoat. What does it mean? I'll put pictures of the coat on later. Thanks! Greatcoat-Tag - Komandir RKKA - 05-08-2010 Motorized shouting company (мото-стрелковая рота) Greatcoat-Tag - desantnik - 05-08-2010 Actually, less confrontational - Motorized Rifle Company Greatcoat-Tag - deValcourt - 05-08-2010 Is there other insignia on the coat itself? Phillip Greatcoat-Tag - desantnik - 05-08-2010 In case you were unaware, this is not an official factory tag, but a unit-level addition, required so a soldier could determine his own issue. Which would be why his name is at the bottom. Sort of a like writing your name on the labels/tags of shirts, jackets, underwear, etc. Phillip Greatcoat-Tag - red89 - 05-08-2010 Thanks for the information. Here's the coat. There isn't any other insignia on it. I'm going to wash it though since it's pretty dirty. Greatcoat-Tag - deValcourt - 05-08-2010 Do you remember all of the feedback you got when you mentioned cleaning a uniform here: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/soviet-military-awards/uniforms-hats-insignia/26985-cleaning-uniform.html ? I've never seen a Soviet greatcoat without brass buttons before. I'm sure they existed for the field, especially by the time Afghanistan rolled around, but I have never personally seen one. Would you mind posting a few more shots of the collar, shoulders and the buttons?:) Phillip Greatcoat-Tag - red89 - 05-08-2010 Actually the coat is just missing the buttons. I remember the feedback and I know it's best not to clean a uniform but sometimes it must be done. You wouldn't want this coat until it's cleaner. Greatcoat-Tag - Lapa - 05-08-2010 No buttons missing here, it fastens with metal hooks. Marc |
