[…] 8. Lieutenant of the Medical Service Stanislava Iosifovna Montik, senior scrub nurse in the 214th Medical Battalion […] Commander of the 19th Perekop Red Banner Tank Corps Hero of the Soviet Union Lieutenant General of Tank Forces [signed] / Vasilyev / Patriotic War II,0285258,Nurse,19th Tank Corps - patricko - 06-24-2012 Монтик, Станислава Иосифовна ' OPWII Patriotic War II,0285258,Nurse,19th Tank Corps - medals73 - 06-24-2012 Doubly interesting. A behind-the-lines nursing award and a BIG upgrade. Not sure the original recommendation wasn't the right award, but . . . . Patriotic War II,0285258,Nurse,19th Tank Corps - Bill Garvy - 06-24-2012 I have a Red Star awarded to a nurse under similar circumstances, that is, originally recommended for a Medal for Combat Service, she was upgraded (?) to a Red Star. . . http://soviet-awards.com/forum/soviet-military-awards/researchers-corner/researched-orders/59228-red-star-nurse-1st-ukrainian-front-1803871-a.html Patriotic War II,0285258,Nurse,19th Tank Corps - RedMaestro2 - 06-24-2012 Interesting also that she was Polish. Nice find! :thumbsup Patriotic War II,0285258,Nurse,19th Tank Corps - patricko - 06-24-2012 As has often been said, the rationale for the upgraded /downgraded remains elusive for us. But if someone gets an ORB - let say- for saving the life of his commander, why not an ORS or OPWII to have saved the lives of dozens of men through blood transfusions!?! So, it's a nice thing that some of these nurses were awarded with ORS or OPWII ! :thumbsup What I find interresting besides the citation, the upgrading, is the place of drafting: "Military Commissariat of the Komintern Raion, city of Moscow". Was it for non-Soviet citizen ? Does anyone have seen this on his researches? Patrick Patriotic War II,0285258,Nurse,19th Tank Corps - PaulR - 06-24-2012 Nice and significant award upgrade. I love to see those. |
