The Medal for Bravery to:
[…]22. Gun layer in the 6th Battery Sergeant Vasily Nikolayevich Panchin. In combat for the capture of the cities of Ragnit and Tilsit on January 19 and 20, 1945, Sergeant Panchin showed himself an expert in artillery fire and a brave and courageous soldier. On January 20, 1945, during the assault of the city of Tilsit, Sergeant Panchin with four shots destroyed an enemy machine gun, that had forced our infantry to take cover, enabling a further advance.
In a period of two days, Sergeant Panchin destroyed with his gun two heavy and one light enemy machine gun, an observation post, and suppressed the fire of one anti-tank gun.
[INDENT]Born in 1920, Russian, member of the Komsomol, worker, had four classes of education, drafted into the Red Army in 1940 by the Petrokamenskoye Raion, Sverdlovsk Oblast.
Home address: "Krasny put" kolkhoz, Novo-Pinchensky Rural District, Petrokamenskoye Raion, Sverdlovsk Oblast. Lightly wounded on August 2, 1944. He wasn't decorated previously.[/INDENT]
