Here is a Desk Ornament celebrating 50 Years Of The Artashat Border Guard Squad of the FSB. One of the four Russian Border Guard Squads in Armenia along with Armavir, Gjumri and Meghri that was originally created as part of the MVD of the USSR on 25th June 1955. It must have been a rough start for the early members of the unit as it was awarded the Red Banner on 28th October 1956 before being transferred to the KGB of the USSR in June 1957.

Although the Squad is an external Russian Federation Border Unit as part of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, 82% of the members are Armenian citizens.
