KGB pin to jacket ?
Hello friends!
I wanted to show you this object. In your opinion, is a lapel pin of fantasy? |

Re: KGB pin to jacket ?
I am no expert, but would guess it's a fantasy, possibly (judging from quality) a product of the same people who made those Stalin's busts that were a real plague last year.

Re: KGB pin to jacket ?
This symbol is the one used in the 1980s KGB IDs (they removed the sword to make them seem less frightening). It looks nice, but I agree with the others that it is fantasy piece because the lettering is not very well done and there is no maker mark (other than the silver content mark). Also, if it were Soviet the pin itself would be different. Moreover, since this is the All-union KGB symbol, it would very likely have been produced by one of the two main mints (MMD or LMD) and I don't see that. Sorry.:(
It looks nice, certainly fun to have, but I don't think even your friend knew it wasn't a real KGB issue pin. Phillip
